The Island Hotel Newport
Beach
If you’ve never experienced the Island Hotel, you’re
really missing one of the finest hotels in the world,
noted for their spectacular service. Once the Four
Seasons Newport Beach, this fine establishment was
able to retain a very large percentage of staff.
The staff at all levels feels as though they are
a family and will treat you as though you are part
of the family, as well. The Fashion Island Mall
is conveniently across the street for luxurious
shopping. The 285-room hotel is about 15 miles from
the beach. There are hotel rooms with a view of
Newport Coast and of the Back Bay. Hint: 10th floor
suites have a panoramic view from their private
balconies!
Many improvements have been made to the hotel rooms
as well as the hotel. Many special touches, specifically
suggested by the long-time staff members as well
as the many repeat guests to this specific property,
so it is sure to please the most discriminating
tastes.
From the moment you walk into this AAA five diamond
Island Hotel Newport Beach, you will be able to
tell it is going to be a great experience. The experienced
bell men will guide you to your preferred destination
at the Island Hotel. Signage is prominent and easy
to follow.
Past the pool area is the Palm Garden area – a function
space that has hard walls and a tent cover, so it’s
easy to enjoy the great Southern California weather.
As you pass the pool area, you’ll notice a 17-foot
fireplace and a quiet, secluded Jacuzzi area, which
had a fountain in the middle of it! There are 9
cabanas by the pool, all equipped with phones, TV,
and a fan and lounges. The lounges and chairs around
the pool and lined up around the pathway around
the hotel area are all padded and looked very inviting!
There are pool toys, next to the huge Bird of Paradise
plants and lush tropical plants, which surround
the pool area You will find the state-of-the-art
gym, which is surrounded by two walls of glass,
facing the pool area. The gym attendants diligently
wash off each piece of equipment with a clean towel
as needed. There is fresh fruit, juice, headsets
for the equipment and water next to the towels,
at the entrance of the gym.
Adjacent to the gym are the tennis courts, plus
there are a ping-pong tables just waiting for someone
to use.
According to Kasey McKee a member of the sales staff
at the Island Hotel (What a delight she is), “We
have a beautiful new spa! It opened January 24,
2005 and you’ll find three waterfalls. They also
manage the Pelican Hill Golf Course, which has two
Tom Fazio courses
After a $20 million facelift, the Island Hotel spa
was done meticulously in soft colors, with soothing
ocean blues and greens and wonderful scents. Sun,
sand and ocean are right here, with water flowing
down walls and in fountains dispersed around the
spa, leaving one feeling tranquil.
According to the spa director, Jim, the Island Hotel
doesn’t have Jacuzzi or soak tubs in their spa,
as they had done an extensive survey of their best
customers and the feedback was that they don’t use
them and it takes away from the serene environment
that they know and love.
Rick is one of their long-term therapists. He’s
a big guy with large, strong but gentle hands. You
will never have felt hands so wonderful like that
before. That’s why he’s one of their most requested
therapists.
Their 180 minute Signature spa treatment, the Newport
Beach Nourisher. starts on the back, exfoliates
the area between the ribs and knees with glycolactil
accelerating gel. Rick then proceeded to the upper
belly ritual with fluidifying oil and lower ritual
with rapid release gel. He then combined equal portions
of redefined organic body mask into a glossy gel.
A mask is formed and applied evenly to the thigh,
belly, and hip areas. Rick then wrapped me firmly
with plastic sheeting from ankles to just under
the breasts for about 20-30 minutes. He then added
a luscious scalp and neck massage. Afterwards, a
shower Rick applied a thin layer of redefine serum
and then the most ultimate deep massage concentrating
on the places I needed most, the neck and shoulder,
with redefine massage cream, with anti-cellulite
techniques. He was great!
Another guest in the quiet room wanted a gentle,
relaxing massage and Rick came out and said, “Do
these hands feel like they could hurt anyone?” He
was right. He has magic hands and off to the treatment
room they went.
The spa is downstairs away from the traffic of the
rest of the hotel. You have to go there on purpose.
It is very peaceful and pleasant experience. I recommend
it highly.
