Bellagio Hotel

Upon entering the Bellagio you are greeted by water fountains…The Fountains of Bellagio – water choreographed to classical music. Once inside the lobby, look up to very colorful hand-blown glass flowers, created by artist Dale Chiluly it’s quite the site to see. Once through the grand lobby you’ll encounter the Spa and Salon.

Once inside, you will receive your robe, sandals, and shorts and t-shirts for certain therapies and/or a work-out in the full service coed exercise facility. There is a full line of Cybex weight machines and state-of-the-art cardio equipment. Each of the cardio machines has its own private TV. There are private fitness instructors for individual attention, for the perfect work-out. Spa-goers must be 18 years of age and a registered hotel guest. If you are shy, or just want a private room to change in, there are two provided. They’re about the size of a large dressing room in a department store, with full-length mirrors.

There are three fairly large hot and one cold plunge when you first enter the spa. And, the largest wood eucalyptus steam room I’ve ever seen and a matching size dry sauna on the other corner of this area of this facility. There are 2 hydrotherapy rooms and 2 Vichy rooms for special services on the ladies side. There is also one in the general area, so that men can enjoy a Vichy treatment, also. There are also two tanning areas for spray tanning on the ladies side.

Each private shower stall has a rain shower head above, 2 side jets and one handheld spray nozzle. Every type of amenity is provided, and I’m told if they don’t have it, they’ll get it for the guest. There are water and juice stations smattered all over the spa. It’s a huge facility! There are make-up stations with make-up lights, vanity areas, and a few lounges. About 10 minutes before guests are to get their treatments, they’re walked to the Rotunda Lounge. The hallways are stark, and all along the corridors are vases with single flower stems, in showcases on the walls, and jade tiles and mother of pearl tiles at your feet.

Then there is the meditation room….all you hear is water rolling down the glass tiles, in a candlelit room. There are two beds that are about twin size, to lie down and completely relax, on and a few chairs. The room is heated and the walls subtly change hues.

There is a thinking pool, with a similar tile water wall and pool, just outside of the meditation room with just a couple of chairs, for those who don’t want the heat and may want to socialize.

There are treatment rooms for Thai yoga massages, which are relaxing, stretching massages that you actually participate in. There is a large square pad, about the size of a king bed that this is performed on. They have another that is done in a chair. These therapies are done while dressed in loose clothing.

There are also two massage rooms conveniently located in the men’s side so they don’t have to leave the locker room.

Hint: On my tour, two different women came up and asked the attendant where the ladies room was….Spa Bellagio has used the British name Water Closet on the sign outside of the enclosed ladies room, so look for Water Closet vs. Ladies or Women.

There are also Ashiatsu massages, where the barefoot therapist holds onto bars hanging from the ceiling and walks out your massage, creating the deepest form of massage. Sounds great to me! There is the Watsu room, with a small pool in the middle the room, a combination of stretches of Zen Shiatsu and the element of (94- to 98-degree) water. By gently floating and the therapist’s gentle stretching, the guest becomes deeply relaxed, strengthening the mind/body connection. A bathing suit is required for this treatment.

The bamboo room is reserved for yoga, pilates (machines), spinning classes and kick-boxing (the boxing bags are stored on a chain in a closet and then they move along the ceiling to arrange themselves to be perfectly hung in middle of the bamboo (floor) room.

Spa Bellagio also recently opened up to all MGM MIRAGE guests Monday-Thursday.

One of the first things that come to mind when you think of Bellagio is elegance and luxury. In December 2004 they added 928 additional rooms and suites, expanded the Spa and Salon offering many innovative treatments and treatment rooms, added an additional 60,000 square feet of meeting and function space, new retail stores and Sensi, a unique concept in dining Italian and Asian (the restaurant is active and fun with the kitchen is center stage of a true culinary show), and Jean Phillippe Patisserie – touting the world’s largest volume and tallest chocolate fountain – 2 tons of chocolate running through 25 hand-crafted glass vessels….hey, it’s OK to look! Las Vegas decadence at it’s best!

Bellagio is the first and only five-diamond hotel in Las Vegas. If you’re lucky enough to have one of the grand suites facing the fountains, they pipe the music from the fountains into the room so you can view the show right from your suite. Water walls abound all over Bellagio!

In addition to what you’d expect in a five-diamond hotel room, there are lavishly stocked mini bars, an iron and ironing board, two line phones and computer/fax-accessible data ports with high-speed internet access, posh bathrooms with a third phone, soaking tub with separate shower and lighted make-up mirror, and of course, robes. The suites even get bigger and better…powder room, wet bar with frig and ice maker, dining set, fax, separate climate control in bedroom, 2 master bedrooms _”his” has a steam shower and “hers” has a soaking whirlpool tub, separate illuminated make-up/shaving mirrors, robes and slippers. The rooms are about 853 square feet to about 1,536 and 2,050 for the penthouse suites.

The “O” Cirque du Soleil show is grand! I’ve seen it a couple of times and absolutely love it! If you’ve had the pleasure of seeing any of their performances, this one is one of the best as the athletes/entertainers are flying through the air; stages are appearing and disappearing into the pools of water. I haven’t gone with anyone of any age that hasn’t truly loved this show!

If you’re taking a meeting or event to Bellagio, they have the 45,000 square-foot Grand Ballroom, a 22,000 square-foot Bellagio Ballroom and 14 meeting rooms, ranging from 1,000 to 10,000 square feet.
