Ritz-Carlton New Orleans
Accommodating plus! Once I had made reservations
for my New Orleans trip, I made it my business to
call the Ritz Carlton to book my spa reservations.
I was lucky enough to speak with Kim C, who was
a delight to talk with. Kim was wonderful and truly
helpful when I told her my dilemma, I was so stressed
from just moving residence and office, and needing
Detox from all the dining out for the last 2 months,
and mentioned the deep tissue massage that I’ve
been craving for weeks. She took all of my information
down and said that she’d get right back to me with
a suggestion for the proper treatment. Done in the
true Ritz-Carlton style!
The Ritz-Carlton New Orleans Spa just reopened after
a major renovation on April 15, 2007. From the Fleur
de Lys designs on the carpet in the restaurant and
the antiques distributed throughout the hotel, the
Ritz-Carlton New Orleans doesn’t disappoint.
From the two staff members who greet and personally
take you to your final destination in the hotel,
to the attentive-as-usual servers in the dining
room, you will be pampered in the usual Ritz style.
The spa area still had some things being added,
such as the Spa Café and the retail area
under expansion, but the spa itself is in full swing.
There is a dry sauna, eucalyptus steam room, a European
shower with 6 heads in it, three more private showers,
and a locker room with electronic locks on each
of the lockers including a private dressing room.
There is a wonderful quiet area, with two day beds
with pillows and cozy blankets to snuggle up in
while you enjoy a mimosa, glass of cabernet or chardonnay,
or a glass of fruit-infused water. The lighting
is low, but still adequate to read one of the magazines
that are spread out around the area.
You can experience many pleasures from the vast
array of treatments, but the one that I highly recommend
in addition to the deep tissue massage is:
The Café Au Lait treatment which is a combination
of coffee, milk, rosemary and some other secret
ingredients; this coffee scrub is used to gently
exfoliate dead skin cells while essential oils soothe
and moisturize the skin. This anti-cellulite treatment
releases toxins, activates fat dissolution, firms
and smoothes the skin. While the body is detoxifying,
the scalp is gently massaged with a coffee-scented
oil, to awaken the senses and calm the mind. You
will also enjoy a facial massage, if Beth is giving
you your treatment, as she is an esthetician as
well. She has delicate and firm touch, and hits
precise pressure points along the face and scalp.
