How to get the perfect massage
How to get the perfect massage by Jim Vang, the
Mobile Masseur
- Find out what the spa provides for your comfort:
- Locker rooms with a lock or do I bring
my own
- Sauna, wet and/or dry
- Jacuzzi
- Bathrobes and towels
- Bring your own sandals or flip-flop
- Find out what type of massage is available?
The most popular are:
- Swedish
- Deep tissue
- Hot stone
- Sport massage
- Pregnancy massage
- Shiatsu etc& just to name a few
- Before you get on the table here are a few
things to think about
- Try not to eat for at least on hour before
your massage. You can increase the chances
of getting a cramp during your massage
if you’ve eaten right before your treatment.
- Leave enough time to take advantage of
the hot tub, hot shower, sauna or steam
room that most salons provide for free
prior your massage. It will warm up your
muscles and make the time on the table
very comfortable.
- Drink water before and after your massage.
- What to ask your therapist:
Once you know what type of massage you want.
Here are a few things to ask your therapist regarding
your preferences.
- If you have any area you are currently
in pain and should have him or her avoid
i.e. sprained ankle, bruise mark, rash
area.
- Let him/her know what pressure you would
like hard, medium, or soft and make sure
you let them know after the warm up strokes,
if it is too much or if you would like
a little more. Give them time to start
and when they have been going a while advise
the therapist what you need more or less
of. The therapists, for the most part,
like the feedback.
- Ask if they do your chest and stomach.
The most embarrassing thing for a woman
is to roll over and have your therapist
(male or female) pull your sheet all the
way to your waist and be exposed and not
know that was coming. If you know up front,
ask for a towel to be draped across your
breasts unless you do not care.
- Ask if they include a foot massage with
the full body massage and do they work
on your face and scalp. Some salons charge
extra for a reflexology, facial or scalp
massage. Also, some people prefer not to
have the therapist get into their hair.
- Ask if you are to wear a thong or briefs
or go nude. Most therapists like you to
be nude so they can transition from your
hips to your gluts without having to glide
over a thong or briefs.
